Lawn Removal and Lawn Care
Summer is a good season to remove your lawn. Make sure to get the soil amending and/or mulching, planting, and drip system set up right after you do it. This way there isn't much time for seed to sprout on the bare dirt, and new growth to come up. It's important to do these things back-to-back (in order of priority with the most efficient work flow) so you don't have to weed or clear the ground where you removed the lawn a second time.
For those of you that have lawns and want to keep them, this is the season to make sure your watering system is keeping it well watered and green.
Watering
Summer is the season to keep your watering system at the top of your focus list. As things get drier and hotter, making sure your system is up to par, leak free, and maintained is important. You should also hand water any plants that you know need extra water, like newly planted trees, shrubs, fruiting trees, and berries.
Remember that fruits are made up of water, so they need more water when fruiting. Blueberries are especially important to water a lot when fruiting. You can rarely over water them when the drainage/soil is good.
Weeding and Brush Removal
Watch out for when things get drier. This year could especially foster fires from the larger swaths of grasses and growth fueled by the lush/wet spring after they dry out. Keep your weeds under control and dry bush cleared away from your home.
