I don’t believe that there are magic bullets or panaceas when it comes to health and longevity. However, of every supplement I have tried in all my 20+ years of experimenting and trying like WAY too many, NAC is the only one that immediately made me feel as good as the Limitless Drug (NZT 48) from the Bradley Cooper movie the first time I took it, without any of the side effects.
Too bad I didn’t know about NAC (n-acetyl-cysteine) to help my body and mental health before I started taking Modafinil & Armodafinil. This is the drug the Limitless movie is based on for those of you that may be wondering.
I also developed, or rather earned myself a salivary stone that supplements likely had a significant contribution to that got larger when I tried a new comprehensive multi-vitamin, mineral, and herbal formula. So this post is a bit ironical for me, given I had to learn the hard way that supplements that are unnecessary and have no blood work or hair mineral analysis basis in reality unique to my chemistry, and that are not whole food based caused me some problems. Not NAC though.
NAC was a huge helper for me when I started going through the worst part of my recovery from drugs, alcohol, and toxic black mold exposure. I am also taking it to help my body keep inflammation down for the inflammation with my salivary gland, and inflammation that comes when I have a flare ups with hashimoto’s thyroiditis. NAC stands out as my #1 go to supplement, and the one I know really works in a way that provides real results.
NAC is the precursor and building block for glutathione, which is your most important antioxidant. Here are the things it is known to help the body with.
Supporting mental health. The #1 main reason I tried it and continue to take it.
Detoxifying after harmful exposures and protection in the face of harmful exposures. I take it when the spray in the skies is heavy.
Supporting replenishment of glutathione and elevated inflammation.
Improving lung health and liver health.
Protection from the flu.
Fertility.
And here is the link to the article on NAC from Mark Sisson that inspired me to make this post.
