Holidays Gratitude and Seeds
Thank you all so very much for your business and support of Oregon Ground Works, or your consideration of my work if you have not yet done a project with me. I will be celebrating 6 years in business serving you fine people of Southern Oregon this coming May. I'm so proud of the 5 star reputation I've earned, and the honor to help you make your gardens organic, healthy, and beautiful.
For those of you looking to start plants from seed in your upcoming 2016 gardens, you can get heirloom seeds sent right to your door by Seed Savers Exchange and Baker Creek Seeds. Both of these organizations are dedicated to GMO free seeds that will provide you outstanding color and beauty when grown with care, and the right requirements to thrive. They have some of the best seed stock I know of, and are dedicated to preserving your seed heritage. These organizations are doing their part to make a better future for all of us.
Winter is a great time of year to get your seeds for the upcoming growing season and plan your gardens. Here are the links to both their websites, where you can request a free mail-order catalog.

Here is a great quote from Dr. Mercola on how important and valuable soil is.
"One of Earth's greatest treasures is soil, without which we could not survive. Soil is the mother of nearly all plant life, and ultimately all animal life on this planet. It's the interface between biology and geology — the living skin of the earth."
-- Dr. Joseph Mercola

Below at the top is Spiraea. A lovely mid-size shrub that can be easily pruned, is low maintenance, and generally not a favorite of deer depending on the variety.
Below that is Malva, also known as Mallow. An herbaceous perennial that grows wild in the spring. It is a nice addition to your garden if you are encouraging wildflowers. It is also used as salad substitute with a very mild taste. One of my all-time favorite herbs for eating raw and cooked with vegetables!
